2027 CALL FOR ARTISTS

Submissions are now open for the 2027 edition of the Burlington Waterfront Sculpture Trail (BWST), a project of the Dan Lawrie International Sculpture Collection (DLISC). We encourage applications from both emerging and established artists. Sculptural works are selected for their ability to engage with site, materiality, and context, and to encourage audiences to think differently about place, time, and the spaces we share.

CURATORIAL APPROACH

A Curator Committee of five members will be selected from the community in September to support the jurying process and provide the DLISC with a shortlist of selected works by category.

2027 BWST PROGRAMMING

After a successful fifth season, the 2027 BWST will create a 2.5km long experience linking the Art Gallery of Burlington, Joseph Brant Museum, Burlington Performing Arts Centre, Spencer Smith Park, the Downtown Burlington BIA through a series of 60 temporary sculptures created by local, regional, and national artists, and 10 large-scale and/or interactive installation works. The trail will run April 10 – May 31, 2027 and will be a fully accessible experience, free of barriers and admission, for all to engage in.Exhibition opportunities include:

  • NEW Sculpture Inside at the AGB – an opportunity to display and sell small works for exhibiting artists inside the Art Gallery of Burlington over two weeks

  • VIP Opening Reception and Sculpture Inside LaunchPublic Guided Tours

  • Friday Night Lights – two magical evening experiences where we light up Spencer Smith Park and many of the sculptures

  • Family Fun Day programming in Spencer Smith Park

  • NEW ArtSpeaks™ – an immersive tool developed together with BWST participating artists. Bringing the art to life through AI Voice conversations that inspire curiosity, learning, and discovery. Powered by iMatr®, it combines conversational AI and AI Voice technology.
