The Dan Lawrie International Sculpture Collection (DLISC) is excited to form a new community Curator Committee to review and evaluate artist submissions and support the jurying process for the sixth annual Burlington Waterfront Sculpture Trail (BWST), located in Spencer Smith Park and downtown Burlington from April 10 – May 31, 2027.

We hope to build a committee that is both passionate about the arts and creating lasting cultural impact in the Burlington region. The Curator Committee will be selected from the community in September to support the jurying process and provide the DLISC with a shortlist of roughly 80 works by category from the long list of 200+ submissions. This shortlist will be reviewed by the DLISC team together with the City of Burlington to define the final 70+ works presented as part of BWST 2027. 2027 CURATOR COMMITTEE

We are looking for five (5) members who:

• Are age 18+

• Live in the Greater Burlington Area (e.g., Burlington, Hamilton, Oakville, Milton, etc.)

• Can attend all five (5) Zoom meetings after 5:00 pm on weeknights

  • October 8, 2026

  • October 15, 2026

  • October 20, 2026

  • October 23, 2026

  • October 29, 2026

• Can review approximately forty (40) sculpture submissions in two weeks (submissions are accepted for works on plinths in open-air, under plexiglass, and large-scale works for installation)

• Are comfortable sharing a formal review of a minimum of twenty-five (25) sculptures to a group of their peers for the purpose of scoring submissions to decide on inclusion in the BWST.

• Are passionate about representing the diversity of the Burlington community. We hope to assemble a committee that includes experience in curation, artistic practice, art buying, and more. People working with disabilities (visible and/or invisible, physical and/or mental), those who are People of the Global Majority, including Black, Indigenous, and racialized individuals, LGBTQQIP2SAA+, including Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Pansexual, Two-Spirit, Androgynous, Asexual, and members of other groups experiencing barriers to equal access, opportunities, and resources are encouraged to apply.

TIME COMMITMENT AND HONOURARIUM

• Approximately seven (7) hours of meetings on Zoom

• Approximately six (6) hours of artwork review, meeting preparation, and program assessment

• Committee members will be paid an honourarium of $400 for all approved meeting attendance and submission review activities
