Bio:

Ante Benedikt Kurilić is an emerging Croatian multidisciplinary artist currently working and living in Toronto. He completed his BFA degree in the Sculpture/ Installation program from OCAD University in 2020.   He creates composited artworks that question the impacts of human actions on their environments, exploring the identity of belonging and the absence of dreams.

Artist Statement:

In this work the experience of quiet desperation faced by immigrants to Canada in precarious states of naturalisation is explored through the symbolism of the Saltwater Crocodile. Lying in wait, unobservable to those around you, the burden of histories and homeland pulls you back to a difficult past left suspended in your absence
